Please join us for a meeting with Fire Official Mark Sylvester and Fire Inspector Russell Nydegger from the Bernards Township Fire Prevention Bureau.
Mark and Russell will share fire safety information and the most common fire code violations found in commercial properties.
There will also be networking opportunities. Breakfast will be served.

Mark Sylvester, Fire Official, BT Fire Prevention Bureau
Mark Sylvester comes from a long line of family fire service professionals. At the young age of 16, Mark joined his local volunteer fire department.
Mark studied at the University of New Haven, graduating Magna Cum Laude and earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Fire Science, Fire Investigation and Criminal Justice, and Criminal Investigation.
Mark has worked in five municipalities as a Fire Inspector/Fire Official in the past 7 years. He has worked with the Bernards Township Fire Prevention Bureau since March 2017. Mark is also assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Fire Investigation Unit as a Fire Investigator.
Russell Nydegger, Fire Inspector, BT Fire Prevention Bureau
Russell Nydegger began his career as a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician in Englewood, FL in 2010.
Russell moved back to NJ and volunteered with Denville Fire Rescue. He then became a licensed Fire Inspector/Official with the Irvington Fire Dept. Russell has worked in 4 municipalities in the past 5 years and has worked with Bernards Township since Sept 2019.
Russell is a nationally licensed Fire Investigator.
